The Story Behind My Wildlife Art: Why I Paint Animals
People often ask me: Why animals?
The honest answer is that animals have always made more sense to me than most things. They are honest. A cheetah doesn't pretend to be anything other than a cheetah. An elephant doesn't hide its grief. There's a rawness and authenticity to wildlife that I find endlessly compelling and endlessly paintable.
Growing Up with Wildlife
I grew up surrounded by stories of animals : the elephants of South India, the birds that filled the trees outside our windows, the monkeys that were as much a part of daily life as the neighbors next door. When I moved to Canada and settled in Oshawa, Ontario, I found a different kind of wildlife: foxes slipping through the forest at dusk, owls perched silently in winter trees, the surprising resilience of nature right alongside a busy city.
Both worlds live in my paintings.
Why Colour?
My style is bold and colourful, deliberately so. I want my wildlife art to feel alive in your home, not like a nature documentary still. When you look at Luna, my fox painting, I want you to feel the quiet magic of a forest at dusk. When you look at Committed Clown, my puffin, I want you to smile.
Art should make you feel something. That's the whole point.
Wildlife Art for Durham Region and Beyond
I'm proud to be an Oshawa-based artist creating work that resonates with people across the Durham Region, the GTA, and Toronto. There's something special about knowing that a piece of the wild is hanging in a home just down the road or across the country.
My work ships across Canada and to most of the United States, so wherever you are, you can bring a little wildlife into your space.
Where to Start
If you're new to my work, I'd suggest browsing the Colorful Creatures collection , it's a wonderful introduction to the range of animals and moods I paint. From the gentle Veiled Sanctuary deer to the wise Wisdom Goddess owl, there's a creature for every home and every heart.
And if you want something truly one of a kind ,something no one else in the world will ever own , an original painting is waiting for you.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for caring about wildlife art. It means more than you know.
